[M] Robert Rich's Somnium iPhone App!
2010.07.13, Post by Robert Rich
DESCRIPTION:

Anyone with an iPhone or iPod Touch can now download the Somnium app,
for a mere $0.99. This app creates a mood for long-duration listening
by playing hours of randomly crossfading loops, selected from the
original Somnium audio tracks. The user interface is very simple,
just a slider that determines how slowly the loops move forward. The
app was created by Henry Bergin. Henry is the son of my friend John
Bergin, who created most of my CD cover art in the last decade. Here's
the link to the Somnium app (and you'll notice some of Henry's more
silly creations.)
This iPhone App is available now, HERE!

Somnium: Possibly the longest continuous musical composition ever released on any format, Somnium represents an ambient music landmark. Robert Rich has meticulously crafted a fresh studio interpretation of his notorious all-night Sleep Concerts, incorporating newly recorded electro-acoustic, electronic and environmental textures, with elements created for the original live events. Somnium guides the listener through an ever-changing dreamscape, with levels of subtle detail that reward both active attention and background listening. Deep and sonorous, mysterious and diffuse, liquid and hypnogogic.

[L] Niya's Place: Dog or Cat? Answer: Rabbit!
2010.07.09, Post by Niya Christine Sisk
DESCRIPTION:
Read this creative blog series written by graphic designer and dynamic writer, Niya C. Sisk.

They litter train themselves. They purr. They will lick your hands to groom you. When they get bored, they rearrange their own furniture to spice things up. They come when you call their name, and their poops don’t stink (and they know it). So, why don’t more people have these soft, affectionate, smart creatures as pets? Further, why are they often found in a two-foot square cage outside often on the brink of death from freezing or sweltering temperatures?

DESCRIPTION:
Read this creative blog series written by graphic designer and dynamic writer, Niya C. Sisk.
With an accumulation of over 60 essays with an opinionated macho rabbit's point of view, it's time to put them into a book now and transition the conversation at Niyas Place. Creative impulse control is not my strong suit. Combine this with a passion for coffee and a good conversation, you will see some new action at Niya's Place.
So expect random acts of writing in the future. And please join us with a cup of coffee, your wild and wonderful thoughts and let's jam in the cafe before the work day. It's a no commute zone.
ps: I can't promise Dakota won't have a thing or two to say about
stuff. But I can promise he will be brief and to the point.

RELEASE:
[M] Matt Davignon's Living Things!
2010.01.30, Post by Edgetone Records
DESCRIPTION:

Matt Davignon is an experimental musician based in Oakland, California, who has been working almost exclusively with the processed sounds of drum machine since 2004. Before that, he has worked with unusual sound sources such as field recordings, turntable, prepared instruments and household objects.
The fuzzy drones, moody quivers and chirps Matt creates are far removed from the sounds one would expect to hear from a drum machine. However, listeners of Matt's last two albums, "Bwoo" and "SoftWetFish" are familiar with the unique language he has developed for his instrument. Inspired by psychedelic music and natural sound recordings, the music in his new offering, “Living Things”, focuses on the theme of organic life which he conveys with a sense of mystery and wonderment.

2009.11.29, Post by Niya Christine Sisk
DESCRIPTION:
Read this once-a-month creative blog series written by graphic designer and dynamic writer, Niya C. Sisk.

I haven't missed posting a Niya's Place blog monthly for over 3 years. But recently I've turned my life as well as the rabbit tribe's lives into something that resembles a Fellini Movie in reverse. The event I'm speaking of is the move from Sonoma to Los Angeles to attend a 9 month program at UCLA in screenwriting.
I thought... how hard could it be. It's 381 miles from the Bay Area. The ocean is spectacular. It's the only place in the world that eats, breathes and sleeps story as an art; as a science and as the crazy creative lifestyle it produces.

David Rosenboom (b. 1947) has been widely acclaimed as an innovator in American experimental music since the 1960s. How Much Better If Plymouth Rock Had Landed on the Pilgrims (1969–71) is considered to be one of the most important, prompting the following Washington Post review after a 1970 performance:
“If there were a device whereby one could plug into the deepest levels of human consciousness, and then translate this input ...
