This is a “real” music school. What you learn here applies to all the music you will play. Summer Rock Camp, run by local teachers John Jordan and Michael Finley, can help anyone sound better-whether you are beginning or advanced. In addition to forming a band, students attend camp workshops, jam with lots of other musicians, go through a recording session, and put on a rock concert.

The Stephen Sorenson Memorial Music Scholarship Fund

This page is dedicated to the late great Artist Stephen Callaway Sorenson (September 15, 1976 - February 24, 2009) who passed away from metastasized Ocular Melanoma. There has been a music scholarship founded in his name at Sonoma State University in the State of California for upper level music students to help them develop their skills and knowledge of music with financial assistance. See below for more information on donating (tax-deductible) and apply for this special academic scholarship.

Stephen Sorenson graduated with a B.A. in Jazz Music from Sonoma State University in June 1999. He continued his career in music through teaching, playing, composing, and arranging. Stephen passed away February 24, 2009 from metastasized Ocular Melanoma. His parents and friends have set up a memorial scholarship fund at Sonoma State University to honor his love of music.

The Stephen Sorenson Memorial Scholarship has been set up by Jim and Leslie Sorenson in order to provide resources for the advancement of the educational mission of Sonoma State University.

It is intended to provide scholarships for upper division music majors who are passionate about music. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients will be selected by a committee of faculty and staff in the Music Department.
